MyAlpaca’s history contains tradition and artistry that has been handed down over generations. The philosophy that has made the company so successful is that it combines artistry with natures finest materials, in this case precious Alpaca fibers. These fibers are not only healthy, but also naturally silky soft and extraordinarily light. The duvets and pillows are filled with 100 percent Alpaca fibers and make for the most comfortable sleep possible. They are thermoregulatory, moisture-wicking and hypoallergenic.
When it comes to processing and working the fiber, there are several steps taken. The first is to wash the fiber, followed by carding. During carding, there are hundreds of tiny needles that are located on a rollers comb which comb the fiber into strands of ordered threads. After two rounds of this, the fibers are arranged into a layer which is several centimeters thick. What follows is a traditional hand quilting method. Every piece is given the most attention to detail as possible, and the process is quite lengthy. Just one mid-sized duvet takes 15 hours to complete!
