Cire Trudon has a history that dates back to 1643, when Claude Trudon became an owner of a boutique on the rue Saint-Honore. This is where he perfected his profession as a grocer as well as a candler. Eventually, the candle manufacture company became the source of his family’s fortune.
Since 1901, Cire Trudons factory is located in the Perche Regional Nature Park. The mission of the park is to protect its environment through actions that help preserve the diversity, for example through water resources as well as guiding sustainable urban growth.
Maison Trudon’s participates in a project that protects the local, endangered species. More specifically, the company has partnered with the local Orne Dark Bee Conservatory, which helps to protect the European dark bee. The dark bee is threatened by agricultural and industrial beekeeping practices. Since Cire Trudon uses Beeswax for their candles, it only makes sense to invest in the preservation of this species. It also goes along with the motto that the company has had since 1643, which is: “They (the bees) work for God and the King.”
